If you've read all the way through Truth & Consequences, then you know that book 5 will be titled "The Wedding". This will be the LAST BOOK to cover ALL five characters. The book following will only cover TWO characters and will be the absolute final book in the series.
As much fun as these stories have been to write, these characters take ALOT out of me. I hope they're just as fun to read, but not nearly as draining.
And while we're on the subject of draining, I just want to make a quick note:
I've had a few emails sent by some who've recently read Miss Independent and told me that that they feel like Vanessa does nothing but whine in that particular book and that it would be better for them if she did less. And I get that. I do. The thing is, and I honestly don't know another way to say it, but she's *meant* to. I didn't go in trying to write her as a woman having it all together, because the facts are that she didn't and never has. She's a completely screwed up mess of a person and has been her entire life. And now (in Miss Independent) her past is back to face her and she's mad, she's bitter, she's angry, she's pissed and thinks she deserves an apology for being 'wronged'. It's something she's never really had a chance to deal with and now that she has, she's reacting in the way that she would've when she was 18 instead of now at 23. Those teenage feelings of resentment are still there despite trying to move past it. And in truth, she hasn't grown up much from that situation, none of them have. I would've liked to see that happen early on, but for me writing it, it wasn't genuine to cram all of that into one book. It's mostly why I turned this into a series, because I knew that she couldn't be bitter forever and I knew that she had to grow up and move on. It's really a journey, not just for her but for her friends and family as well.
I just wanted to clear that up, because I'm not offended or upset or put off when people feel that way about her. If you want to shake her or slap her or tell her what's what, that's great! You're getting a reaction and that's all I can ask for as a writer. And let's face it, at 23 years old, she needs to be told something because she's barely had even a taste of the world outside of her own bubble.
Now, below is the cover for The Wedding and soon enough, I will be posting the synopsis! Fair warning that someone in his book MAY die. I'm not entirely sure yet if I want to take one of the plots in that direction, but it's been leaning there for me since Decision Makers.
How are you liking Truth & Consequences? What are you thinking about the couple planning to get married? What about Nathan and his plotting? What is he REALLY after? And who? And how about Nikki and her BIG NIGHT? Poor thing. She can't seem to catch a break.
Tell me your thoughts! I'd love to hear them!
